Full-scale musicals, bold direction, and a company built on working fast and working together — bringing professional-caliber theatre to a 199-seat house in the heart of Orange County.
Southgate Productions has been the resident musical theatre company at the Curtis Theatre in Brea, California since 2012 — building a reputation across Orange County for staging full-scale, professionally realized musicals inside an intimate 199-seat house.
The company works quickly, collaboratively, and with an eye for casting that goes beyond vocal range and technique. Southgate looks for performers with professionalism and a genuine sense of ensemble, and pairs them with a design and creative team that has itself been recognized across the Orange County theatre community.
Productions are directed by Jonathan Infante, whose recent work includes an original scenic and staging concept for Sondheim & Weidman's Assassins, and the 2026 production of Something Rotten! — cast from a field of more than 230 submissions.
Southgate Productions is holding open auditions for its upcoming production of Assassins, a darkly comic, unsettling look at the men and women who attempted or succeeded in killing an American president. Directed by Jonathan Infante, this boldly conceived staging brings Sondheim's most eclectic score — country, gospel, pop, and folk — to the Curtis Theatre.
Southgate Productions is committed to inclusive and equitable casting. All performers are welcome to audition.
